The event combines three powerhouse initiatives into one unforgettable day:
18th Annual Gotcha’ Back School Kickoff: 11:00 AM
Families across Cumberland County are invited to gear up for the new school year with:
Free backpacks and school supplies
Health and wellness resources
Community service providers
Live entertainment, giveaways, and food
A Day of Education, Empowerment, and Engagement

Candidate’s Fair & Youth Symposium: 11:00 AM–2:30 PM
Hosted by the Fayetteville Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., this civic-focused segment allows attendees to:
Meet local candidates running for office in 2025
Engage in youth-led discussions during the Youth Symposium at 2:30 PM, hosted by the Junior Board
Register to vote on-site with support from the NAACP
This is an opportunity for voters of all ages to make informed decisions and understand the power of their vote.
8th Annual HBCU College Fair & Experience: 12:00–5:00 PM
In partnership with Cumberland County Schools, the HBCU Experience returns to connect students with historically Black colleges and universities across the country. The fair features:
On-site college applications and admission representatives
Financial aid and scholarship information
Step show presented by the Beta Chi Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.

This event is made possible through the support of numerous community partners including AmeriHealth Caritas North Carolina, Mid-Carolina Regional Council, Living in the Home, the NAACP, 19 Kings, Flip D’Dish, Haus Host, and many others committed to building a stronger Fayetteville.
This long-standing event ensures that no student starts the school year unprepared, while also creating an opportunity for voters of all ages to make informed decisions and understand the power of their vote. At the same time, high school students are encouraged to bring their transcripts and come ready to take the next step toward higher education.
